Wilde Jacht / Wild Hunt

wild hunt

trailer: De Wilde Jacht / Wild Hunt
bilingual, fit for non-dutch speakers.

“Hoort de wind waait door de bomen, hier in’t huis zelfs waait de wind
zal die Vale Ouwe wel komen, nu het licht zo lelijk blinkt
ja hij rijdt door donkere nachten met zijn raven, oh zo snel
als hij wist hoezeer wij wachtten, ja gewis dan kwam hij wel
ja gewis, dan kwam hij wel”

darkest winterdays
life retreated from our branches
deep underground, trees thicken their roots
forests start dreaming
from under the earth, the Wild Hunt is gathering
anyone who lives, and thus feels death beating under its skin,
has but one choice:
sit at home and hide behind a laptop
or be a warrior & put on the mask of death

Zwarte Pieten of the world, unite:
De Wilde Jacht is geopend

Performance that searches for the shamanic roots of dutch/western european folklore, including the controversial ‘black pete’ (zwarte piet) tradition; an attempt to look deeper into that dark mirror of fear, xenofobia, weakness, greed and other possible demons of modern life to evoke a spirit of struggle for honest freedom. Let’s embrace winter.
